This is a piece that came out of an exploration for using video and body painting as part of an art installation piece that aims to allow the audience to see what it’s like to paint a body and to have one’s body painted.
The crucifixion image here is a reproduction of one of the images from Matthias Grünewald’s Isenheim altarpiece. That piece was painted for the Monastery of St. Anthony in Isenheim near Colmar, France, that specialized in the treatment of sufferers of skin disease.
Since I aspire to use my art as a healing vehicle and the human skin is my canvas, this is a perfect piece to choose.
