AT first glance they look like intricate paintings of exotic birds - but look closer and you’ll see they are photos of human models.

Kate Dean, an artist who grew up in Yate, created the stunning images using a dozen painted models. The body painter transformed the nude men and women into lifelike birds using nothing but paint and a camera.

The collection, called Life In Flight, tells the story of human life through birds, from finding a partner and settling down to having children then watching them grow up and leave the nest.
